Zahn is a most intelligent and sophisticated printmaker. Her lithographs, woodcuts and etchings demonstrate a sculptural interest in layering tones against textures; in fact, they reveal the unexpected three-dimensional possibilities of a two-dimensional medium.
She would rather experiment with a limited range of tones, as in "Honey," suffused with a delicious golden-orange light, than throw a spectrum at the viewer. She suggests, rather than shrieks. Other works that show subtlety and sculptural inventiveness are "A Moveable Feast" and two studies of antique dolls in carriages.
